Meet Our Edlers

  • Bob Stevens

    Bob and Janet Stephens met during a spring band trip at Oklahoma Christian College and were married December 20, 1982. They have twin sons, age 34. Bob served as a deacon for the Wilshire congregation in Oklahoma City for six years followed by another fifteen years here at Central in Shawnee. Bob has served as an elder since January 2014.

  • Steve Kelly

    Steve and Mary Kelly met at Oklahoma Christian College and were married in 1972. They have four grown and married children, along with five grandchildren. Steve served as Youth and Education Minister for the East Side congregation in Tulsa from 1974 to 1979. Thereafter, he worked in professional fields related to Geology, and was able to return to his native city of Shawnee in 1982. Steve served the Central church as a deacon from 1985 until appointed as an elder in 1997.

  • Paul Harris

    Paul and Paula Harris met at the church in Earlsboro where Paul's father preached. They were married in 1962 and today have two children and five grandchildren. Paul served in both deacon and elder roles at the East Main church of Christ in Shawnee before its unification with the Central congregation in 1992. Paul has served the 29 years since as an elder here at Central.

Meet Our Deacons

  • Dale and Denise Beard...

    met in Sayre, Oklahoma, in 1980. They were married in 1981 and now have three grown sons. Dale holds a BS in Accounting from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and a Law degree from Oklahoma City University. He has been a deacon at Central since 1990.

  • Joe and Amber Curtis...

    met on a blind date in Hurricane, Utah. They were married in 1991 and have two daughters. Joe has served the Central congregation as a deacon since March 2016.

  • Keith and Jennifer Lawrence...

    met while both working together at a restaurant. They were married in 1993 and have one son and one daughter. Keith grew up in Luther, Oklahoma, 40 miles northwest of Shawnee. He has served the Central congregation as a deacon since March 2016.

  • Tracy and Mary Gettle...

    met through a blind date set up by mutual friends in Shawnee. They were married in 1984 and have two grown daughters. Tracy has served as a deacon at Central for 20 years.

  • Ron and Debbie Taffe...

    were married in 1976. They met on a blind date while Debbie (a Shawnee native) was visiting a mutual friend in Arcadia, California. Ron was an Army MP for three years and attained a BBA in Management and BS in Computer Science from Central State University in Edmond. Son Kevin and daughter-in-law Sarah live in Plano, TX, along with granddaughter Abigail Rose and grandson Latham James Ron has been a deacon at Central since 2005.

Meet Our Preacher

Logan and Amanda Edmison have three children; Julian Fidelis (age 6), Adelaide Elizabeth (age 5), Milo Evans (age 2). Logan started preaching at Central in November of 2019. Together, their goal is for their family to be strong, supportive, and encouraging while holding strictly to Biblical authority.
